THE MIND OF CHRIST
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus..”
Philippians 5:2
Have you ever wondered what you would be like if you truly had the mind of Christ? What would you be doing today, right now, if you were prioritizing your “To Do List” with Jesus’ brain? Just think of all the things you could accomplish for His Kingdom if you dedicated every day to accomplishing His “To Do List” instead of yours.
Remember, so much of what we do, say, think, and value is a matter of choice. Yes, it’s easy to blame life’s challenges on your circumstances, or your upbringing, or the economy, or anything if you really try. And while you don’t have the ability to change the past, you absolutely have the ability to change the future by changing your choices.
And if you choose to change; if you choose to make tomorrow vastly different from today and yesterday, then you must change your thinking first. And the best way to drastically change your thinking is to think with the mind of Jesus Christ.
No, you cannot be Christ or ever attain His perfection. But, you can model your life, your work, your family, your actions and YOUR MIND after His.
St. Paul says that a person with the mind of Christ conducts himself worthy of the gospel. That simply means we don’t live out our days in ways that makes Jesus cringe. Every element of our lives should make Him smile. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Jesus looked upon the decisions you made and said to Himself, “Hey, that’s what I would have done!”
Not all of us will receive honors, plaques, or fame in this life. But, that doesn’t matter. The Lord keeps His own set of records and His own system of rewards. Living a life worthy of the Gospel simply means living each moment with the Mind of Christ. This week, rewrite your “To Do List” with Jesus at the very top.
This Week’s Prayer
Dear Father, You are my ultimate priority. Forgive me for the times when I have left You behind. Give me Your grace that I will never forget You or your children again. I do not come first. You do. I do not come second. My family does. I do not come third. My neighbor does. I do not come fourth. Those in need do. Help me to remember these priorities. Remind me to never put myself on my To Do List, because I know that I am first on Yours. Amen.
